The Situation of Myopia in Taiwan V.2

Nearsightedness is inconvenient to many people in Taiwan . We can find out that
there are some reasons contributed to the problem. Since the situation of myopia is
quite severe, we should put our attention on the issue and understanding the causes of
the health problem.
As time goes by, most of us has the problem of nearsightedness and rely on
glasses. We can also find out that the percentage of out friends who seek for the help
of glasses is getting higher and higher. According to Dr. Chien-Jen Chen, the prevalence of myopia was found to increase with age. The prevalence of myopia of right eyes at age 6-7 was 12%, 54% at age 11-12, 75% at age 14-15, and 85% at age 17-18. Also for instance, we can hardly know someone who isn’t nearsighted in college right now. It is indeed a headache to most of us (Chen,1996).
The situation of myopia is getting worse due to the following reasons. First, Taiwanese students study hard. They spend a long time highly concentrating on relatively small words printed on course book with not enough light source. As they grow up, there are more materials to study and as a consequence their eyes get weaker. Dr. Cheng-Yu Chen explains the relationship among the learning stress, habitual use of eyes and myopia: If students felt the compulsive learning stress much higher, their eyes will become myopia (Chen, 2003).
During leisure time, Taiwanese students often choose playing computer games, watching TV, surfing the net instead of exercising, sightseeing as their extracurricular activities. The choice they make relaxes only their exhausted souls but not eyes. According to Dr. Wing-Fung Cheng, the children''s recreation amusement couldn’t do without the electronic products for gaming, webbing and passing massage, and the people using electronic products for above 7 hours in a week have higher myopia progression (Cheng, 2006).
The third reason is that a large part of Taiwanese people lack the knowledge of eye protection. They do not understand how important it is to protect this organ, and thus their eyes lack exercising and relaxing during a long period of time.
The situation of myopia in Taiwan is severe and getting worse. We should be aware of the problem and take care of our own eyes. Do not overuse them and give them some relaxation often. It is a crucial issue to any of us.

Freewriting

I can't sleep well recently. I think it's due to the weather changes. Summer is coming but the air conditioners are not set yet in our dorm. Talking about dormitory, we’re going to move to another building. I'm glad that we won't need to climb stairs anymore. But the bad side is that the room in that building is much smaller, I am afraid that my roommate will hit me in the sleeping much often than now. To tell the dormitory, I had heard that the boys in our class have a lot of problem in decide their roommate, and a few people haven't find the fit roommate now. It is so sad that the thing happened. Our classmates are all very kind. I hope this event will not heart anybody's feeling and this will go to a happy ending although it seems impossible. As for girls, I think we are much better than boys. We can handle this matter much easier than boys. Of course, there are lots of reasons such as girls can talk to each other peacefully, and without any argument, or some girls are not brave to enough to say out that they want to change the roommates. Those are the reasons why girls have not as many problems as boys. Why do boys change their roommates so much? I've heard from schoolmates say that they change roommates every semester, but without arguing. Maybe all of us should learn that art of negotiation, so that we won't have so much argument.

Angel
I’ve got an angel
She doesn’t wear any wings
She wears a heart that could melt my own
She wears a smile that could make me want to sing

She gives me presents
With her presence alone
She gives me everything I could wish for
She gives me kisses on the lips just for coming home

She could make angels
I’ve seen it with my own eyes
You’ve got to be careful when you’ve got good love
Cause then angels will just keep on multiplying

You’re so busy changing the world
Just one smile and you could change all of mine
We share the same soul oh oh oh share the same soul
oh oh oh share the same soul oh oh oh oh oh oh m m m

Realize
Take time to realize
That your warmth is crashing down on in
Take time to realize
That I am on your side
Didn't I, Didn't I tell you
But I can't spell it out for you
No it's never gonna be that simple
No I can’t spell it out for you

Chorus
If you just realize what I just realized
Then we'd be perfect for each other
and will never find another
Just realized what I just realized
we'd never have to wonder if we missed out on each other now

Take time to realize
Oh-oh I'm on your side
Didn't I, didn't I tell you
Take time to realize
This all can pass you by
Didn't I tell you
But I can't spell it out for you
No its never gonna be that simple
No I can't spell it out for you

Chorus

It's not always the same
No it's never the same
If you don't feel it too
If you meet me half way
If you would meet me half way
It could be the same for you

Chorus

Between the ads of bags for Chanel and Gucci are three differences. However, they attract consumers in the same way. The first difference is that the component colors in two ads are quite different. The Chanel ad showed in the left-hand side consists of merely black and white. From the camellia topknot to the sweater which the model wears, the bag itself, and also the background and the brand name written on the ad are all in these two colors. In contrast, the Gucci ad shows clothes and accessory in vivid colors. The model stands on the left wears fair white jacket which makes the red striped shirt stands out more, and she also has a bright red bag that corresponds to the color of her shirt. The other model dresses in jeans blue and she also puts on a relatively big white bag. Colors on the two models make a splendid image to consumers. Another difference is that the ads capture images of models when they are in different conditions. The model in Chanel ad is holding the bag and staring out of the ad, which seems to be disturbed and pauses at the moment. She is in a motionless state in the ad. The Gucci ad is relatively more dynamic than the other. Flowing of hair, eyes looking at different directions, hands holding their bags, slight bend of the body, and facial expression are all signs showing that the two models are on the way to someplace. The picture seems to be photoed while they are walking. With completely different color and pace, the two ads reveal contrary style. The Chanel ad gives consumer a slow-paced feeling and it is quite classic. The Gucci ad gives an image of city citizen busy hurrying to somewhere, which is more modern than the other one.Although there are differences between the ads, they both show how models interact with its products. The elegance and beauty showed in both ads make them both successful advertisements.

Self Introduction version 2

My name is Lillian Cheng. I am a nineteen-year old girl who studies in CGU medical school. Since I am a freshman now, new life in university is something I am really looking forward to. Having freedom to arrange my own schedule, I spend more time on exercising and reading English novel now.
Swimming and playing volleyball are my hobbies. Swimming provides me with a good way to getting rid of summer heat and working out every part of the body. The reason why I love volleyball is that it requires teamwork and it really feels good when I know my teammate and I are hard working for the same goal. I think exercising helps release stress and makes me temporarily forget what is bothering me. It is not only good for physical health but also good for emotion control.
I think the best way to improve ones’ English is to read English novels. I often choose movies script as my reading material, because I could then link visual images with words together and it helps me understand it better.
